Does the making music more convenient, accessible, and portable to some seem to be draining the quality of music? Music in New Media works just as every other aspect of New Media. It cycles through discovery which is when the creative minds work! Which is very interesting to me because I spend a large amount of time on the computer it will be a change for the better if media begins to have texts online instead of all paperbacks just like Shanley discussed in class for some people its easier to recieve literature such as news online. Just A Round of Golf
Most people that play golf play it for leisure and others play competitively. Either way both are enjoyed by all the players who participate in a round of golf. Golf is a lifetime sport. What does that mean, that it takes a lifetime to play it well? No, that means once you take up golf you can play for the rest of your life at any age. Of course to play well, you'll need more than a week, a month or even a year. Some people have been playing since elementary school and are thirty years old and still aren't good. Golf is all about patience and technique just the same with things in life and both take a while to master. My high school golf coach would always tell the team "never up, never in!" He was referring to the shots we would take that we would imagine them flying from the middle of the fairway right up to the green but always ended up short. After we would become frustrated he would tell us that golf was about risk and reward and that we always have another whole. Sometimes in life we get tough shots from all sorts of angles and it seems so simple to fix but in reality they're not. Risk and reward goes along way in life. Even pro golfers who have mastered the concept of mixing patience with technique still struggle with things in life. Money and fame don't interject with the fact that everything happens for a reason. In almost everything you do you have to give something up and you either benefit or its a downfall. Either way there is always another whole to look forward to. Life is just like a round of golf!

In my video production class we were asked to produce a psa with no voice over but music could be included. I chose to produce a small production about drinking and driving. I began with shoot b-roll footage and compiling pictures for my psa. After I gathered footage and images, I log and captured a sequence I saved my sequence using Flash Memory so just in case something were to happen to my project would still be there. I decided to edit my images into the footage but I had to be certain that they were MPEG so they would securely be put into my sequence and not get erased or be unrendered. My music selection I emported into itunes first, and it was and MP3 so I immediately converted the selection to AIFF and added it my project. Using Web 2.0, I was able to get cool sound effects off the net for my crash effects. My Internet wasn't working it continued to go in and out because I was using a cable cord. So in order to connect wireless I connected to WI-FI and was able to get the effects! After I rendered and saved my project I was ready for compression. So my sequence in the editing timeline was all together and ready to go. After I Compressed it I exported my psa into a Quicktime movie. It was an official psa now! Then I noticed at the end of my psa that I was missing credits at the end so I had to go back and Decompose my project and add credits then put my project back together. Using CODEC I was able to shorten my project because the credits made it a little to long to be a psa. The space bar found on the keyboard which is apart of the User Interface of an apple computer, allowed to pause my quicktime psa while I took a lunch break. When I resumed my short production I loved it and sent it out to all my friends that share the same LAN line as me.

Imagine being about 70 years old sitting down on your couch at home around the 10 o'clock news observing what is going on around you and the society you live in. Shootings, robbery, drug heist, and not to mention the political wars that happen every time an event is under control by our government. Now sit a wonder about how 2009 compares to what the news was like many years ago. Not nearly as much information to take in about how to be safe in your own neighborhoods as it is today for a 70 year old. It used to be as simple as picking up a newspaper or t

Conservatism is a political and social term from the Latin verb conservare meaning to save or preserve. As the name suggests it usually indicates support for the status quo or the status quo ante, though the meaning has changed in different countries and time periods. Cultural conservatism is a philosophy that supports preservation of the heritage of a nation or culture. To some Americans it is better to preserve the way we do things and to always do them that way.
Needless to say it is very important for Americans to maintain the originality the world is used to seeing from us but we also should keep up with the world digitally and grow with the growth of technology. In an edition of the New York Times titled "Before Its Time, the Death of a Newspaper Chain" the journalist expresses the feelings of reporters all over America about how the news they produce will be seen only through the Internet. "The newspaper industry itself, meanwhile, has come under a cloud because readers and advertisers are migrating to the Internet, where news is largely free and things like classified advertising can be purchased much more cheaply than what the local paper charges" (Richard Siklos).
Many people argue that the newspaper is much better off being online regardless of how it preserves conservatism or not. They believe that conserving more important things such as trees are more important. Let's look at the newspaper from an environmental point of view. Nearly four billion trees worldwide are cut down annually for paper alone, representing about 35% of all harvested trees. However, many of the trees used for paper come from tree farms, which are planted and replenished solely for that purpose. each person in the United States uses 749 pounds of paper per year that adds up to 187 billion pounds per year for our entire population. Of course, that puts them squarely in first place over all other countries in consumption. World paper consumption has grown 400 percent in the last 40 years. Of course, these numbers also account for tissue paper, cups, cardboard packaging but paper is everywhere.The U.S. Toxic Release Inventory report released by the EPA states that pulp and paper mills are among the worst polluters to air, water and land of any industry in the country.
Although this is true about the newspaper the opposing side of why it is better to access the paper through the Internet have many reasons as well. Such as how the virtual large-circulation of papers have established strong websites. With advertising dollars providing more revenue, these online versions of the paper can reach more readers, generate more talk, and lead to more hits and higher numbers.Teenagers now don't really remember a time without the Internet, and reading a newspaper is something many of them will do only if it's required work for a project. Going through a newspaper, trying to find a relevant section and ending up with newsprint all over your hands is so much less appealing than typing in what you're trying to find in a search engine and getting 145,000 hits in 0.09 seconds. Which is not only convenient but it is also a strong way to keep up with the growth of technology.

Reporters are forever hunched over the bar at the dark dives that abut the rags where they slave, morosely drowning their resentment at editors who just eviscerated their big scoops, in an excess of cirrhosis-generating booze" (Ross). In John Ross's editorial titled " The Death of the American Newspaper" he expresses how cause health issues for writters. " Ink drizzles through my punctured veins. Indeed, the toxins that ooze from chemical inks and pulp during a lifetime of reading and writing for newspapers may well have contributed to the tumor that now weighs upon my liver" (Ross). The newspaper is the blame for Ross's Tumor in his eyes he has served the newspaper he works for hard and long. To him it is long over due that the paper should be tranformed into an internet accessed product only. For some writers it is more than just about money. Writing is their passion and it should be preserved and original. Rather it means looking at it from the internet or by physical touching and reading it as long as their messages are being passed on to Americans daily. As far as conservatism in America, I guess we'll have to see where the growth of America and technology lead us before we can say it is dead!

A chemical Plant in Virginia exploded causing two deaths and worry others about a chemical leak. The info about the explosion is confidential leaving others in the dark. John Bresland talks about the comparison of 9/11's explosion to the one in West Virginia. The coast guard didn't want information disclosed to the media. They trump the public of the danger lurking in the community. The sequrity didn't even catch how the tanks blew nor did the cameras catch the underground tanks. There is a risk management plan talking about the chemical safety board but they won't release it. The community was upset in that they felt uninformed and unsafe causing protests and petitions to shut the plant down altogether. The executive board at the chemical plant explained to press that the uproar was out of their hands and it was up to the government to deliver news and updates to them and if they got no information to protest and petition the government.

I believe that if I lived near or even in West Virginia I would be very upset because more than just the land and materialistic things blew up so did two people and thats unsafe. Tax payers around that area are what keeps the plant running therefore they have the right to know what is going on with the safety of it. The camera system didn't detect who was working or watching over the plant at this particular time says something about the security of the plant. It's terrible that people's lives were put in danger and they don't even know why because the executive board at the plant won't release information to the people nor the press.
